Continuing the Journey....

My daily routine at the moment...

Results Are In!

Finally a day of positive news! I almost forgot what it feels like! As we slowly get all my lab results back, everything is looking great! I got the all clear to continue treatment and my next appointment is on the 25th! We will be organizing all of my medications, doing my baseline ultrasounds, as well as doing my test transfer. I can't wait for the day I see my little embies maturing. Excited & scared all at the same time :) :)

Cycle Day 3: June 9, 2014: IVF is Official

It feels like I have waited forever to finally start this process!  As many people who haven't struggled with infertility may not know, you can not just jump in to IVF.  It takes a lot to get to this point.  When you finally get there it feels like an eternity.  It was Cycle Day 3, June 9, 2014 and my first IVF had officially begun.  I was a ball of emotions.  I had completed my baseline blood work, and began my birth control.  I don't know what the future has it store, but I pray this works.  I plan on trying to stay as calm as possible, and not stressing too much.  My body is going to be going through enough, and I needed to sit back and let science run its course.  Now I just need to make sure all of my baseline blood work comes back great and I can continue to be cleared for this cycle.  Let the journey begin!

IVF Prep!

One of the main things I wanted, was to be as healthy as possible before and during IVF.
So I officially started birth control, which was the first set of drugs for the process, as well as a vitamin regime!  My vitamin regime included the following: Prenatals, Fiber, Calcium, Vitamin C, and Folic Acid.  Let's do this!!

All Clear for IVF!!!

We are all clear!!!!

Pre IVF Bloodwork and Genetic Testing

Today was the day that we would be doing all of our pre IVF blood work and genetic testing.  They make sure that you are healthy enough to go through the extensive process, as well as test for many other things.  Genetic testing is optional, but we chose to do it.  It tests for several hundred genetic diseases and they send it off to another company called Counsyl who then delivers the results to you and your doctor's office.  They took three tubes of blood from Miguel, and ten tubes of blood from me.  I think that is the most blood I have ever had taken from me at a time!!  Miguel had never had blood work done previously, so he was not too excited about this at all.  It was all starting to feel so real.  We were really preparing to embark on this journey and we were in it together! Now we just wait for our bloodwork to clear so we can continue to the next part of this process.

IVF Consult Day!

It was time for our IVF consult!! I was so excited to be taking this next step, but also quite nervous at the same time.  My doctor thought this would be the best option for me, if I wanted to become a mother.  We had basically tried all other options available for my situation at this point.  My mom came to the consult with me, as my husband couldn't miss work that day.  We met up with Nicole.  She is the IVF nurse, and the one I would communicate with the most during this entire process.  We went through what this process is all about, what would need to be done to start, the amount of medications involved, the chances of this working, along with success rates, etc.  They also gave me a packet full of this information for me to review once again at home!  There was a whole packet of paperwork that Miguel and I had to review and sign together.  (Mainly some legal things, as far as frozen embryos, and such.)  We were on our way!! Refreshed and ready to start another cycle, only this time, much more intense.
