March 13, 2014: Pre-Op Appointment

Surgery day was just right around the corner! It was finally pre-op time and the day before my surgery.  For the pre-op they do a standard pre-surgery blood testing to make sure everything comes back normal.  Also they did an ultrasound just to make sure that the cyst was still present, and large in size before they went in and tried to remove it.  Sure enough the cyst was still there.  It was go time!

3 Days and Counting...

Surgery #2 was only three days away at this point.  Anxiety had fully kicked in.  I just couldn't shake the fear of another surgery that was about to take place.  You would think that I would be a pro at this by now.  I began to do things to distract my mind from the worry and anxiety that was consistently filling it.  I knew I was going to get through this just fine.  After all, it is God's hands and He never steers me in the wrong direction.  I had to trust Him and I knew it.  So with that in mind, I went outside to watch the sunset.  I enjoyed the nice breeze and immersed myself in the beauties of nature.  Relaxation is key and I had to get myself under control.

It's the little things...

Throughout this journey we have had so much support.  I am beyond blessed and thankful for the love and encouragement that surrounds me daily.  Friends and family make an effort to give me the most thoughtful gifts to lift my spirits and remind me of how strong I truly am.

Relaxation & Preparation

As I was preparing for my second surgery, I needed to find ways to get my mind at peace.  I tend to internalize things, so I needed to get my mind off of the upcoming procedure so that I wouldn't start to obsess over it.  I love going to Lush and getting my favorite organic, vegan face and body products.  My top 3 favorite things that I use on a regular basis from there are: Bath Bombs, Lip Scrub, and Ocean Salt!  So... to Lush I went!  I decided that I would re-direct my focus on relaxation.  I knew that the stress and anxiety I was creating for myself was not healthy for my body or mind.  On the nights where I felt extremely tense or stressed out, I would plan a night of relaxation for myself.  I would start a bubble bath, throw in a bath bomb, light a candle and read a book.  The bath bomb would make my water so beautiful.  It creates such a positive energy which is exactly what I needed.
